Sun City West Metal Club Newsletter

September 2009

The next general membership meeting for members of the SCW Metal Club will be Thursday, September 17 at 9:00 AM in the R. H. Johnson Lecture Hall located next to the Village Store. All members are encouraged to attend. 2 lucky members will receive checks for $25.

Among the many improvements this summer at the Metal Club is the resurfacing of the parking lot. Other improvements include updating the restrooms, moving the welding shop, purchasing and installing new equipment, a soft drinks machine and painting many areas of the Club. Thanks to all of the members who participated in making these improvements possible.

There is a continuing need for Monitors. Unless 2 Monitors are on duty during any given four hour shift, the Club must be closed. Stop by the Monitors desk to sign up. Training for Monitors is available.

Over 300 pieces of metal art created by members of the Club are on display year around at the Metal Club and the SCW Village Store. Metal art can be purchased at the Village Store in the R. H. Johnson Rec. Center or at the Metal Club. Vacation/security mail boxes can be purchased at the Village Store with installation available at the Metal Club.

Visitors are always welcome at the Sun City West Metal Club during normal operating hours from 8 AM to 4 PM weekdays. Tours are available for those wishing to see the excellent facilities and equipment. Fresh coffee is provided for visitors by our friendly members.

If you are interested in joining the Metal Club, stop by for a visit and tour of the facility. The Metal Club also offers social opportunities and events which include spouses or significant others. The annual dues of $20 provide access to hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of first rate equipment unavailable elsewhere.

Metal furniture repair, welding, garbage container tops, custom sheet metal, milling and lathe work, knife/ax sharpening, custom metal art, etc. are services offered to the community by members of the Metal Club. Visit the Metal Club and let us know of your needs.
