The next general membership meeting of the S.C.W Metal Club will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 11, 2008 in the R. H. Johnson Lecture Hall located next to the Village Store. All Metal Club members are encouraged to attend. Members will be asked to approve the election of three officers, elected by a special nominating committee. Nominees include George Wildridge, President, Terry Phillips, Vice President and Bill Welnick, Assistant Secretary. They will fill the three offices vacated recently and will serve for the remainder of 2008. Two lucky members attending the meeting will receive $25 checks.

The fall S.C.W. Arts and Crafts Fair will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008. Metal Club members are busy preparing a wide variety of metal art pieces to be displayed and sold at the Fair. Over 1,000 pieces of metal art will be displayed at the Fair. If you are interested in an early preview of some of the items to be displayed at the Fair, stop by the Metal Club.

Visitors are always welcome at the Sun City West Metal Club during normal operating hours from 8 AM to 4 PM weekdays. Tours will be provided for those wishing to experience the whole club. There is always fresh coffee and pop for visitors provided by our friendly members. Visitors will observe over 200 pieces of metal art created by members of the club with a wide variety of themes including western, south western, contemporary and wildlife art. Metal art can be purchased either at the club or at the Village Store in the R. H. Johnson Rec. Center.

No experience is necessary if you are interested in joining the Metal Club as classes are available in all areas of the club. Many members of the club had no previous experience working with metal. A wide variety of new skills can be learned from the myriad of instructors available. Annual membership dues of $20 provide access to equipment and instruction unavailable elsewhere. The Metal Club also offers social opportunities at the club and also events which include spouses or significant others such as the recent Spring Picnic with over 250 members and guests attending.
