Members should mark their calendars for The Metal Club’s Annual Fall Picnic which will be on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the Beardsley Rec. Center Park starting at 3:00 PM – Dinner will be served at 4:00 PM. This fall event will be something special featuring a Hawaiian Luau with a roasted pig. The menu will include pulled pork, teriyaki chicken, Paia fruit platter, coleslaw macadamia, Hawaiian baked beans, carrot cake and chocolate cake, chips, salsa and beverages.

Tickets for members and spouses/significant others are $10 and $12 for other guests. The Club subsidizes the cost of the picnic. Please buy your tickets soon from the Metal Club Monitor as ticket sales must be cut off early to accommodate the caterers time limits. The fall picnic is always a highlight of the year. Food, beverages, prizes, fun and good fellowship will be a plenty. Stop by the Metal Club soon to get your tickets.

The next general membership meeting of the S.C.W. Metal Club will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 9, 2008 in the R. H. Johnson Lecture Hall located next to the Village Store. All Metal Club members are encouraged to attend. Two lucky members attending the meeting will receive $25 checks.

The Metal Club will be participating in a big way at the fall S.C.W. Arts and Crafts Fair on Saturday, November 8, 2008. The Fair opens at 8:00 AM. Over 1,000 pieces of metal art will be displayed at the Fair. If you are interested in an early preview of some of the items, stop by the Metal Club.

Repairing garbage container tops, metal furniture repair, custom metal art, custom milling and lathe work, etc. are services offered to the community by members of the Metal Club. Visit the Metal Club and let us know of your needs.

Visitors are always welcome at the Sun City West Metal Club during normal operating hours from 8 AM to 4 PM weekdays. Tours will be provided for those wishing to experience the whole club.  There is always fresh coffee and pop for visitors provided by our friendly members. Visitors will observe over 200 pieces of metal art created by members of the club with a wide variety of themes including western, south western, contemporary and wildlife art. Metal art can be purchased either at the club or at the Village Store in the R. H. Johnson Rec. Center.

No experience is necessary if you are interested in joining the Metal Club, as classes are available in all areas of the club. Many members of the club had no previous experience working with metal. A wide variety of new skills can be learned from the myriad of instructors available. Annual membership dues of $20 provide access to equipment and instruction unavailable elsewhere. The Metal Club also offers social opportunities at the club and also events which include spouses or significant others.
